A tile suitable for a pool wall is not automatically suitable for a pool floor or deck. Always check the individual product specification before ordering.

Avoid ordering any mosaic for a full pool interior when its water-immersion suitability is unclear.
Pool mosaic installation should be completed by a contractor experienced with submerged tile systems.
The substrate must be structurally sound, properly cured, clean, stable and sufficiently flat for the small mosaic format. Cracks, contamination, uneven areas and structural movement must be evaluated before tiling begins.
The tile and grout are not the pool’s primary waterproofing layer. Use a complete waterproofing system designed for submerged installations and follow its required thickness, curing and flood-testing procedures.
Paper-face or film-face mounted mosaics allow a high percentage of the tile back to contact the setting material. Back-mounted mesh or dot-mounted sheets should only be used when the tile manufacturer confirms in writing that the mounting system is suitable for continuous immersion.
Select mortar or epoxy adhesive specifically approved for the tile material and continuous submersion. White setting material is generally preferred behind translucent or light-colored glass because dark or uneven adhesive can alter its appearance.
Avoid voids behind glass mosaics. Uneven coverage can become visible through transparent tile and may weaken the installation. Periodically remove a sheet during installation to check coverage.
Dry-lay sheets from several boxes before installation to distribute normal shade variation. Inspect spacing between sheets carefully so that sheet outlines do not remain visible after grouting.
Movement joints are required at changes of plane, structural joints and other locations specified by the project designer and installation standard. Do not fill required movement joints with rigid grout.
Use grout rated for submerged conditions and compatible with the selected mosaic. Remove residue without scratching the surface. Allow the complete system to cure for the period required by the waterproofing, adhesive and grout manufacturers before filling the pool.
